A bit about Fancy Fungi
Having spent 19 years growing mushrooms, our team are veterans in this sector and we believe with our experience we are currently growing the best tasting and best looking varieties of exotic mushrooms available.
Most of our mushrooms are grown in Wexford so they are faster to market than mushrooms coming in from abroad.
Nutritional Information & recipies
Exotic mushrooms are a good source of quality protein having essential amino acids and rich in vitamins such as phosphorus, iron and copper. They have no cholesterol and are low in fat with ergosterol and polyunsaturated fatty acids, therefore very good for the heart. Exotic mushrooms are also a low calorific food with no starch and low sugars….a positive delight for diabetics!
Vegetarian / Vegan
Vegans do not consume animal products. Since mushrooms are not animals or derived from animals, they are vegan.
Since 2008 there has been a huge increase in vegan / vegetarianism. The motivation is varied, but includes concerns about animal welfare, worries about the environment and religious reasons.
Many people are seeking a healthier diet. For those who have pursued a diet rich in meat and dairy for most of their lives, embarking on a vegan diet can lead to significant changes within the body and research suggests that veganism can have many health benefits.
Mushrooms are little miracles that can be used for a tremendous wide range of dishes and are so versatile that you can prepare them by just adding garlic! Mushrooms are rich sources of vitamins and minerals. Without a doubt, mushrooms are a good meat substitute. They have a distinct umami flavour that many liken to chicken, seafood or meat.
All of our mushrooms and mushroom range are Vegetarian / Vegan. They are also gluten free.
Our mushrooms are grown without using chemicals, pesticides or animal by products.
